10 things I hate when reading a book

  1. being asked how do I find the time to read so many;

  1. listening to someone else’s ipod earphones drone when reading on a train;

  1. noticing someone is reading an interesting book but not its title ;

  1. hoping that the writer enjoyed writing it more then I enjoy reading it;

  1. not being able to pronounce any of the characters names;

  1. finding pages underlined so struggle to remember why hanging is a bad thing;

  1. having to keep a log of who is who when… AND THEN LOSING IT;

  1. realizing that’s it one of a series and I haven’t read the others;

  1. knowing that the film was far better; and

  1. the wife insisting I come to bed before I can finish the book.

  1. Number 7 is a double-edged sword. I'm annoyed to discover that it happens to be the second of a trilogy (see: the Melvyn Bragg Wigton trio), but if I enjoy the book, I'm delighted that I'll get to spend more time with the characters!

    By the way, love the blog, it's helping me pick out a few new books to read in the future!
